MY DOG WAS DEAD 19 MINUTES AFTER I DROPPED HER OFF. I received a message from the sitter that my dog had escaped from her harness and was on the run. A few minutes later I received a message from a women who found my dead dog in the street, moved her to the grass on the side and called my phone number from her collar. I picked my dogs broken body off the street corner, took her to my vet, and missed my flight to CA for a graduation and engagement party.
I decided to try Rover.com because my dog was afraid of boarding kennels since my other dog died. She was fine when she used to be boarded with her brother. I thought this would be a less stressful situation for her. Now she is dead.
If you are a dog owner: Realize being a dog lover is not an adequate qualification to watch you precious pet. Leave the safety, care and security of your pets to professionals. Or be prepared to live with the guilt and grief that may result by your decision to use a service like Rover.com.
If you are an in home pet sitter : Be prepared to be unintentionally responsible for the insurmountable grief you may cause if something happens to the pet in your care. Because you really are not qualified for that responsibility.
If you are Rover.com support staff: Sending an email expressing condolences is appreciated. When in that email you offer to cover financial burdens then keep your promise. I replied that I had to pay a change fee for my airline ticket and 24.00 for cremation. Then to be told that NO they really didnt mean any financial burden, because the fact that this tragedy caused me to miss my flight was not covered. They would cover the cremation charge. Six days later I am still receiving daily emails requesting more detailed information on my receipt I attached.
You contributed to my grief by the constant emails. A daily reminder that my decision to use your service resulted in my dog dying. I now feel harassed by the interrogation over the cremation charges. FOR 24.00!!! Disgraceful.
